Welcome to the Website of the
  Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium

The mission of Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC, Inc.) is to identify urgently needed standards in the field of dimensional metrology, and to promote, foster, and encourage the development and interoperability of these standards, along with related and supporting standards that will benefit the industry as a whole.  The Dimensional Measuring Interface Standard (DMIS) is one such standard that the consortium has the responsibility to develop, maintain and support as well as to coordinate and harmonize with other related standards efforts.  The DMSC is an ANSI Accredited Standards Developing Organization, as well as an A-Liaison to ISO.  The consortium invites participation within the consortium of other standards groups and activities that seek to resolve the technology and other issues of automated dimensional metrology.   Read more on DMSC.)

A New and Integrated Approach to Quality Measurement Standards leads to a Reorganization of the DMSC
The DMSC, Inc. has recently (11 August 2010) launched a New and Integrated Approach to Quality Measurement Standards definition and development.  This new approach, the Quality Information Framework (QIF) also calls for an entirely new standards committee structure within the DMSC.  To learn about the QIF visit the QIF Standards Website.   The site is not quite completed, but contains a lot of information.  To view the new Quality Information Framework (QIF) Activity Diagram, click here Click Here

The Quality Information Framework (QIF) Working Group is scheduled to hold a physical (face-to-face) working session on Hilton Head Island, SC, June 12-14, 2012.  For details, click on QIF Meeting.

Introduction and How to Participate;
also, Benefits and Justification

In today’s environment, standards are essential to national and international economies, to world trade, and to the success of individual companies.  Lack of interoperability between manufacturing automation systems is known to waste hundreds of millions of dollars every year.  A new organization, the Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC), Inc., has been established which recognizes the critical importance of industrial manufacturing and metrology standards.  The objective of the consortium is to take an active role in the establishment and coordination of these existing and emerging technologies.  (Click on any Topic Heading in these pages for more information.)
