Welcome to the Website of the
Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium
The mission of Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium
(DMSC, Inc.) is to identify urgently needed standards in the field of
dimensional metrology, and to promote, foster, and encourage the development and
interoperability of these standards,
along with related and supporting standards that will benefit the industry as a
whole. The Dimensional Measuring
Interface Standard (DMIS) is one
such standard that the consortium
has the responsibility to develop, maintain and support as well as to coordinate
and harmonize with other related standards efforts. The DMSC is an ANSI Accredited Standards Developing Organization, as well as an A-Liaison to ISO. The consortium invites participation within the
consortium of other standards groups and activities that seek to resolve the
technology and other issues of automated dimensional metrology. (Read more) |

Meeting Announcement
Dimensional Metrology
Standards Consortium (DMSC)
Subject: DMSC Membership and Technical Committee meetings, to
be held during IMTS 2010.
The manufacturing community who are interested in
standards for dimensional metrology and how the DMSC’s new organizational
structure is focused to comprehensively address dimensional metrology
interoperability needs, are invited to attend the meetings of the DMSC (Booth
E-5061) and its new technical committees, during IMTS 2010. (If you are unable to see the week's "meeting-at-a-glance" on your browser, you may download the entire document by clicking here. )

Introduction and How to Participate; also, Benefits and Justification
In today’s environment, standards are essential to national
and international economies, to world trade, and to the success of individual
companies. Lack of interoperability
between manufacturing automation systems is known to waste hundreds of millions of dollars
every year. A new organization, the Dimensional Metrology Standards Consortium
(DMSC), Inc., has been established which recognizes the critical importance
of industrial manufacturing and metrology standards. The objective of the consortium is to take an
active role in the establishment and coordination of these existing and
emerging technologies. (Click on any Topic Heading in these pages for more information.)

The Dimensional
Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC, Inc.) has officially announced the DMIS
Certification Program for testing DMIS-based software for Conformance against the DMIS
Standard. This certification has been
years in the making with the help and expertise of the DMSC, the DMIS Standards
Committee (DSC), the Automotive Industry Action Group's "Metrology Interoperability Project Team (MIPT)," and the
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). This collective group has defined various
DMIS Conformance Classes, a DMIS Conformance Test Suite, as well as a DMIS
Certification Program to validate the correctness and completeness of vendor
DMIS-based products. (Click on the title to see more.)
