The DSC encourages
the development of needed standards and protocols for the advancement
of industry as a whole. Without standards, all communication,
manufacturing, and commerce would be impossible. Recognizing the vital
importance of standards, the DSC has long been dedicated not only to
the development of the DMIS metrology standard, but supporting the establishment
of related industry standards as well.
Standards
and specifications for design and precision manufacturing at corporate,
national, and international levels are crucial to national and world
economies. The DSC has for many years taken an active role in the
establishment of industry standards through the American National
Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Organization for
Standardization (ISO). Through member company representatives and staff
participation, the DSC is active in various international standards
efforts of ISO.
The
DMIS Standards Committee was established in the mid-1980s, and
has worked persistently to identify and produce the most complete and
precise metrology standard in existence today. |
